Diwali Special: Five festive styles
Diwali is the season of light, new clothes, sweets and family photographs, so we made it a season in the app too. Angel In You 1.2 is out today, and it brings a brand new Diwali group with five festive portrait styles.
Five Diwali styles
Glowing Diyas
A calm, luminous portrait. You sit in festive silk on a rich rug, surrounded by a graceful arc of small lit diyas and a colourful rangoli, with the whole picture glowing in golden lamp light. Choose the colour of your silk, the setting (a courtyard, a puja room, a rooftop at dusk or a palace hall) and the arrangement of the lamps.
Lighting the Diyas
A warm family moment. Everyone sits close together around a small rangoli, lighting the festival lamps one from another, laughing and leaning in, like a happy candid photograph taken on Diwali evening.
Sweets and Diyas
The family sits behind a large brass thali heaped with jalebi, laddu, kaju katli, mysore pak and murukku, ringed with marigolds and a few glowing diyas. Pick South Indian sweets, laddu and jalebi, or a platter of dry fruits.
Sparklers and Fireworks
A night portrait in deep blue and gold, with the faces lit by the soft glow of sparklers and a fountain firework shining safely in the distance.
Diwali Gift Box
This one is for the children. A bright, overflowing gift box of colourful festival crackers, all closed and unlit, held up with wide-eyed, delighted excitement. Choose a golden hamper, a red velvet box, a wicker basket or a plain cardboard box like the one that comes home every year.
Made with children in mind
Many Diwali photographs are of children, so we were careful. In every Diwali style:
- Children never hold a flame, a sparkler or any firework. Only adults hold sparklers, at arm's length and away from every face.
- Everyone is fully and modestly dressed in festive Indian silk, with no loose cloth near a flame.
- Heads and bodies are drawn in natural proportion, so a portrait of a child looks like a child.
- The Gift Box shows closed, unlit fireworks only, with no flame anywhere.
Sharper faces for Diwali
The Diwali styles are always made in high quality, so faces stay sharp and recognisable even when the original photo is a little grainy or dark. High quality takes a little longer, up to two or three minutes, and uses 3 credits instead of 1. The app tells you before you create the picture.
What else is new in 1.2
- New styles on the front page. The newest six styles now appear in a row at the top of the home screen, and styles and groups added in the last week carry a small NEW label.
- A refreshed look. The app, this blog and our website now share the same raised green and gold title and our line, Every Face Reflects Divinity.
- High-quality pictures now use 3 credits, which is clearly shown before you create.
How to get it
- Open get.angelinyou.in on your Android phone and download the app. If you already have Angel In You, installing over it updates it and keeps your pictures.
- Open the app and enter the access code from your photo studio.
- Tap the Diwali group, pick a style, add a clear, front-facing photo and tap create.
Photo studios: the new styles are live for all studios now, so you can offer a Diwali family portrait to your customers this week. Ask us about printing and framing.
For the best result, read our tips on taking a photo that works best: face the camera, use soft daylight, and keep the face clear. Happy Diwali!
